FIVE DAY RESIDENTIAL RETREAT FOR PROFESSIONAL ACTORS
£195 FULL PRICE or £165 each if you book as a pair to share a room.

The Reel Retreat is a five day acting workshop for actors, by actors. We spend most of our lives auditioning alone in front of a camera, sending self-tapes into the void. This retreat is an opportunity to be in the room with other actors in a supportive communal environment. You will choose your scenes, workshop them with a professional director and then have them filmed by a professional videographer. There are only 9 places available and they will be allocated on a first come first serve basis so we encourage quick sign-up to avoid disappointment.
This is a residential retreat and all applicants must be over 18.
Who’s it for?
Experienced performers or new acting graduates who are looking to make a short two handed film reel, get some new simple headshots and have a fun time in the countryside with walks to the sea, communal cooking and trips to the pub included!
Who’s Running it?
Sam Critchlow is an actor and theatre maker based in London. They trained at Jaques Lecoq in France and are a lead creative with the Palimpsest Project who are currently in residence at the Cockpit Theatre. They will be making their own reel and hosting the group.
The reels will be directed by Rosanna Mallinson and filmed by videographer Flo Wiedenbach. You will leave with all of your footage to edit together as you wish. Requests for editing will be considered for an extra fee.
SCHEDULE
- Wednesday 14th – 6pm Arrivals and Evening Dinner
- Thursday 15th – Choose scenes, scene partners and start character work
- Friday 16th – Choose location and rehearse scenes.
- Saturday 17th – Headshot Session and First batch of Reels Recorded
- Sunday 18th – Second Batch of Reels Recorded.
CATERING
Breakfast, snacks, basic supplies and dinner on the first night are included.
Dinner and lunches will be communal and self-catering. The shops are a lovely 15 minute walk through the wildlife reserve or 3 minutes by car.
ACCOMMODATION
You will get a private room with single or double bed.
Bedding and towels are all included. Each room has a writing desk and wifi.
You can guarantee yourself a double room for £30 extra.
If you book as a pair to share a room you only pay £165 per person. There are double and twin rooms available to share, please specify which one you are looking for in the form.
There is a ground floor single bedroom reserved for anyone with access issues.
